About

One person,
one studio.

Hi, I'm Matthijs, the solo dev behind Pilcrow Games. I've been making and shipping games for a few years, and I started this studio to build the games I actually want to make.

Before going solo I worked as a programmer on games that reached hundreds of thousands of players. Now I'm putting that experience to work on my own projects.

The name "Pilcrow" comes from the typographic paragraph mark (¶), a symbol used to mark the beginning of something new. That's what this is.

Quality over quantity

I'd rather spend an extra month polishing one thing than ship something half-baked. One good game beats five mediocre ones.

No team, no problem

Being solo means every decision is mine. No meetings about meetings, no design-by-committee. Just making stuff.

Games that stick

I like games that give you something to think about after you put the controller down. That's what I'm going for.
